Simplifying B2B Finance at Haufe-Lexware
Accounting, invoicing, customer management — for most freelancers and small businesses, these are the chores they’d gladly put off forever.
Haufe-Lexware, a 400-person software company in Freiburg, set out to change that with a web app that brings it all together in one friendly dashboard.

“Haufe-Lexware went hunting for deep fintech experience and found one of our co-founders.”
The needed application had to be effortless for users but usability was only half the challenge. It also needed to meet strict German and EU financial regulations.
Haufe-Lexware’s small in-house team soon needed reinforcements. Freelancers joined, but few had fintech expertise. The partner bank added more hurdles: unclear documentation, a clunky API, and constant staff turnover.
Seamless Collaboration
On-Site and Remote
Our expert began on-site in Freiburg before moving to remote Google Meet stand-ups, joining the client’s two-week Scrum sprints alongside UX designers, banking consultants, and full-stack engineers.
The result: no silos — from wireframe to code, everything served the end user.

Frictionless Onboarding,
Fully Compliant.
Our first task was building the onboarding and account-opening flow for corporations and partnerships — easy for users, watertight for KYB/KYC compliance.
We keep refining it based on real user behavior, shaving seconds and removing friction at every step.

Seamless Banking Built Right Into The Workflow
Lexware is a B2B banking app we’ve built with the clients team, fully integrated into their existing SaaS platform. It lets businesses manage their banking, track payments and handle transactions — all without leaving the software they already use.
Beyond the core onboarding, we built two features designed to help businesses manage their money and grow: sub-accounts and smart savings rules.
The sub-account feature calms cash flow. Businesses can create virtual envelopes for things like taxes, new equipment or savings, and allocate funds with a single click.
Through the smart saving feature the user can set a rule to send, e.g. 19% of every incoming invoice straight to their tax sub-account. As a result, they can focus on growing their business without sweating the day-to-day bookkeeping.

Driving Growth with Seamless UX and Smart Features
We’ve been working on Lexware since September 2023. Today, the seamless user experience we helped build encourages businesses to manage their cash flow with our client — and keeps support tickets at bay.
Internal metrics show that customers love the product, and happy customers bring more customers in.
This success has built a strong partnership. Now, we are helping Haufe-Lexware develop the next major feature: a Smart function that automatically sorts incoming payments into the right buckets.
